BATAO 2020-2025 review

On Wednesday 8 October 2025, at 3pm, at the Petit Auditoire de la Bourse, place d'Armes in Namur, BATAO presents its 2020-2025 review as part of the Festival International du Film Francophone de Namur (FIFF). An important milestone for co-productions between Senegal and Belgium.

Five years of activity in service of film

Set up on the initiative of Wallonie-Bruxelles International, in partnership with Wallimage and the Centre Yennenga, BATAO Senegal exists to make shoots in the country easier, to promote co-productions with international partners, and to help structure a local film industry.

This event looks back on five years in the field: the genesis of the project, the activities carried out, the tools put in place, the co-production opportunities, and the outlook for what comes next.

The programme for the event

After an introduction and a video presentation of the project, the event will look back on the genesis of BATAO, the activities carried out since 2020, the tools developed (including the location catalogue) and the role of FOPICA, the Senegalese film and audiovisual industry promotion fund. Co-production opportunities and the future of the project will then be discussed, followed by a question and answer session.

The presentation will be followed by a reception at 5pm, then a screening of the film Cap Farewell at 6pm, at the Caméo cinema. Registration is free but required.

This event is aimed at producers, directors, film professionals, institutions, funders and decision-makers, as well as anyone interested in co-productions between West Africa and Europe. It is organised with the support of Wallonie-Bruxelles International, the Direction de la cinématographie du Sénégal, the Centre Yennenga and the FIFF.
