Senegal-Belgium co-production

BATAO, the film office in West Africa, is launching a call for projects for films and series in development, co-produced between Belgium (Wallonia and Brussels) and Senegal. The initiative, led by Wallimage and the Centre Yennenga with the support of Wallonie-Bruxelles International and the Direction de la cinématographie du Sénégal, runs from 2 to 8 October, in Namur then Dakar.

Films and series, for a two-way exchange

Co-productions between Wallonia-Brussels and Senegal highlight the cultural richness and diversity of the stories told on both sides. They allow perspectives and artistic influences to be exchanged, financing and resources to be pooled, new markets to be accessed, and the skills of professionals in both countries to be strengthened.

A two-part workshop

The programme runs in two parts. The first, at the FIFF Namur from 2 to 5 October, includes the arrival of project holders, pitch sessions, the Wallimage gala, a presentation of financing opportunities, a location tour and the trip to Dakar. The second, at Dakar Séries from 5 to 8 October, offers a tour of locations and filming sites, meetings with the local technical industry and participation in the festival. Three projects from each country are selected to follow the full programme.

Building your application

The application file includes a synopsis, a treatment of at least fifteen pages, a note of intent from the author or director, a production note of intent, a moodboard if available, links to the director's previous work, the production company's filmography, a budget with a development financing plan, and the CVs of those involved.

Applications are reviewed by a selection committee made up of recognised professionals in the sector; successful project holders are notified individually. The call is organised with the support of Wallimage, the Centre Yennenga, Dakar Séries, the FIFF, FOPICA and Wallonie-Bruxelles International.
